What stays in your browser

Every answer you give, on the quiz, in a worksheet, or in a tool, is stored in this browser’s local storage on this device. Nothing is sent to an account, because there is none. Clearing the site’s data in your browser removes all of it, and there is no copy anywhere to restore it from. The “Copy” and “Save as PDF” actions on the summary hand the text to your clipboard or your printer and nowhere else.

What reaches the server

Four figures on the site are looked up rather than computed: the spending benchmark for your area, the income percentile, the net worth percentile, and the county property-tax rate. Each lookup sends only the fields it needs to the site’s own server: a ZIP code and household size, or an income, age, and state, or a net worth and age. The server answers from published federal data and keeps nothing. The request is not tied to a name, an email, or any other answer.

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard web-server logs (the address of the requesting network and the page requested) for a short period, for operating the service. The same server holds a request counter, in memory for one minute, to limit the rate of lookups from one address.

Page views are counted by Vercel Web Analytics, the host’s own counter. For each view it records the page, the referring site, the country, and the browser and device type. Visitors are told apart for one day by a hash of the network address and browser that is discarded at the end of it. It sets no cookie, stores nothing in your browser, and cannot recognise you tomorrow.

What is not collected

• No cookies. The site sets none, for any purpose.
• No tracking scripts. The page-view counter above is the only measurement, it runs from this site’s own address, and no advertising or third-party analytics code loads.
• No email addresses. There is no mailing list and no form that asks for one.
• No payment details. Nothing is for sale.
• No cross-site sharing. Nothing about your visit is sent to anyone else.

Links to other sites

Reference pages name banks, lenders, and apps and link to them. Once you follow a link, that site’s own policy applies. No link pays for its place, and the site receives nothing from your following it.
