A playbook is a set of plays in order. This one is for money: 7 places your money can go, ranked by what each keeps, and a short quiz that finds the step you are on.
The home page lists the 7 moves. The quiz asks what you earn, spend, and owe, and returns the move you are on and the dollar target for it. Each move has its own page, readable without answering anything, and a worksheet that prices it against your own numbers. The free tools answer one question each from the same reference data.
Benchmarks come from public federal data: the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, the Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Expenditure Survey, the Federal Reserve’s Survey of Consumer Finances, the IRS, HUD, and the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Contribution limits and tax brackets are the statutory figures for the year shown. Where a page lists a bank or lender’s rate, the date it was last checked sits under the figure and the figure links to its source.
